Museums in Cook County 

Located in the Albee House, built in 1878 . Local artifacts, photographs, and various objects fill the display cases. The Albee House is open by appointment only or for special events. Historic House Walk in autumn every year. 

Blue Island Public Library includes the Blue Island History Museum artifacts on the lower level. 

Calumet City Historical Society was chartered in 1974. It is housed in the old Calumet City Public Library, a WPA-era building, and later the Calumet City Cultural Center from 1986 till the 2000s. 

Founded 2022 and located in the A.L. Wagner & Co. Real Estate Building, constructed in 1889. 

Founded in 1980 and located in the  1891 Christian Dorband-Charles Albee Howe House, now a museum.  Offers tours throughout the summer, including historic landmarks and Richard Haas Murals. 

Located in the Lansing Public Library's lower level. 

Formed in 1970 and located in the Old Stone Church, built in 1860. Contains a second floor of archives available for research and basement museum featuring several exhibits. Tours are hosted in the historic district downtown and along the I&M Canal from March through September. 

Located next to the Matteson Public Library, the Matteson Historical Museum is free of charge. 

Located in the original Midlothian Public School building, later the Midlothian Public Library and built in 1931. 

Located in the old Orland Park Village Hall, built in 1960. 

Formed in 1957 and located behind the Administration Center.  Founded to encourage historical inquiry, to collect and preserve materials of history and spread historical information. Activities include meetings, lectures, social events, field trips, Memorial Day services as well as research and preservation of historical facts.

The 1950s Park Forest House Museum interprets an original home as it might have been, 1948-1953.

Located in the historic Graver-Driscoll House, built 1922. Documents the histories of Beverly Hills, Morgan Park, Mount Greenwood, and Washington Heights.

Located in the lower level of the South Holland Public Library. The South Holland Historical Society monthly meetings are at the American Legion Hall, located at  443 157th Street

The Historical Museum is housed in the old St. Paul Lutheran Church building that was built in 1904. The historical society also hosts tours of the Thornton Quarry. 

Formed in 1974 and located in the Old Zion Lutheran Church  built in 1884.  Now referred to as Landmark Chapel and adjoining Schoolhouse Museum.  Tours are available by appointment.
